Making the best of a sick day (or two)

You know what’s worse than being sick?

Being sick on a weekend.  A beautiful weekend, no less, where it’s finally warm enough to open all the windows and sit outside on the porch, and enjoy the beautiful flowers.

I hate late season colds.

The beginnings of a TARDIS blanket

However, I did make the best of this cold – yesterday I decided to jump in on the Worsted for Wear Knit/Crochet-a-long on Ravelry (it’s Doctor Who themed!), and am working on a TARDIS blanket.  It’s small – I suppose I could make it a lot bigger if I upped the hook gauge, but I figure I should stick to the pattern for right now, since it’s my first time working with filet crochet.  You can’t really make much of it out, but that’s totally the bottom of the TARDIS. I swear. 😀

Where I spent most of my day yesterday, and what I spent it doing

I also watched a lot of Mad Men, parked outside on the porch – considering it was 70 degrees out, why not make myself comfy in a chair and watch shows on my tablet?  I’ve been looking forward to this weather for months now, and I’m not going to let a cold entirely ruin things now, no sirree.  I may have loaded myself up with Dayquil and asked Bryan to take me out chair shopping – after a couple of fruitless stops I found this comfy and loud little thing.  It even has an extendable footstool!  I parked myself here for the afternoon, and when it started to get dark and cold out, well,  that’s when I headed in.  (Don’t want to get even sicker…)

Today, I’m still not feeling so hot, so I’m going to continue to take it easy – I’ve got the TARDIS blanket to work on, and some homework to do, and Bryan’s been asking me to work on some graphics for his website – I may see how much I can get done from my comfy lounge chair outside before the rain and thunderstorms roll in tonight.
