Random Nerdy Adventures!

I know, I know, I’ve been neglecting the blog horribly over the past week.  Blame Python.  More accurately, blame three days of intense Python-learning for a class.  I feel pretty darn nerdy, though, cramming so much Python into my brain in so short a time!  And I just finished and submitted the final exam – while my brain is reeling from cramming so much code into it, I do feel rather accomplished. Plus, Python shares similar syntax to PHP, which I’ve been learning on my own,

So, in lieu of a rather involved post, I’m simply going to share some pictures from the past couple of days – expect a more exciting post when I get my brain back later this week!

2013-05-25 21.27.36First off, I found a TARDIS night light!  I’m rather fond of it.  It does a good job lighting the way from the bed to the bathroom in the middle of the night.  And it’s the TARDIS.

On Memorial Day, in an attempt to recover from the insanity that was three straight days of Python, Bryan and I headed off to Fry’s Electronics up near Indianapolis.  We had a lot of fun perusing the books, especially when we found gems like these….

Windows ME is 13 years old – I have no idea why they’re even selling this anymore, unless there are people out there who collect books about old operating systems…

2013-05-27 15.03.42… and if there are people like that, I’m quite sure they’d jump on this book.  I think my mom actually still has a copy of this, somewhere, along with her copy of the Encyclopedia Britannica on CD-ROM…

Also, this next book really does exist.  And yes, I bought it.

Why not learn about databases from a manga? 😀

Next, we made a trip over to Toys R Us!  Which is always fun for both of us – I go look at the My Little Ponies, Bryan gravitates towards the Legos, we look at Nerf guns that might be steampunkable…   This trip was especially fruitful – take a look at what I found!

2013-05-27 16.37.33That’s right, a 20-inch tall Fluttershy!  I’m going back on my next two paydays to get the giant Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle, should they be there in two weeks… I figured I’d snatch up Fluttershy, as she proves hard to find in general when it comes to pony plushies around here.

2013-05-29 12.04.53I also may have spent a chunk of my weekend playing my most favorite game in the world – Super Mario RPG.  A dear friend of mine, Michael, surprised me with a copy while I was sick with some sinus nastiness last week.  I almost died, haha.  I’ve been looking for this game for years!

And one last picture – this is what happens when you let two overgrown nerds buy groceries for themselves:

That’s all I’ve got for everyone today – stay tuned for later this week, where I post about something I’ve been working on for quite some time!
